Church History Tours From Arizona

Experience the History & Make it Personal

Legacy of Faith Tours was created because there are many Church History expedition organizations, but none from Arizona. We wanted to create an opportunity for those from Arizona to experience the historical sites of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in a convenient and personal way.

  • Health and Ability Requirements:
There is a substantial amount of walking and climbing stairs on this journey. There are many slopes, up and down hill, and frequent climbing in and out of vehicles. Participants need to be able to independently (without walker or human assistance) walk the distance of a half mile over uneven ground. It is important that you are physically prepared for this adventure.
  • Trip Insurance:
In this day and age there are many things that can interfere with a successful travel experience. Though we do everything in our power to provide a timely and efficacious trip, situations and conditions can arise that are out of our control, therefore we do encourage participants to acquire their own Individual Travel Insurance.

“The Legacy of Faith tour is an amazing trip. Every detail was taken care of and we just sat back and enjoyed the journey through church history with an amazing guide. Rinda Updike did a great job arranging a comprehensive trip that included every church history site from Palmyra to Liberty Jail. “This “Legacy of Faith” tour was fantastic. Our tour guide, Rinda has a bubbly, happy, always positive attitude and the knowledge that she has about Joseph Smith, the other Saints and the history of each area is amazing. We were captivated with every detail. This whole tour was organized by the tour company. They scheduled our flights, made all of the hotel reservations, provided the transportation, and scheduled our appointments to attend the Palmyra and Nauvoo Temples. We were able to visit many sacred sites and we could feel what the Pioneers must have felt living in the early beginnings of the Church through our guide’s knowledge. Our driver was great, we never worried about our safety & we loved his quick-minded humor. Never a dull moment. The other wonderful thing we loved about this tour- – – We live in Arizona and it was great to start and end our tour in Arizona. Our testimonies have grown tremendously with this tour. We highly recommend this tour. You will love it and you will love Rinda.”

“Over the years I’ve been to a few church history sites, yet I have always wanted to take a more extensive tour that included more of them. That became a reality with Legacy of Faith Tours. I did not have to worry about a thing- all of the logistics were taken care of for me – and I was able to sit back and enjoy an amazing trip from Harmony, PA at the Priesthood Restoration site all the way to Liberty Jail. I learned so much from our knowledgeable guide, Rinda Updike, and enjoyed how she led with enthusiasm and passion. This is a trip that I highly recommend and will always remember.

About Legacy of Faith Tours

Making Church History A Personal & Spiritual Experience

Rinda Updike describes herself as a “church history nerd”. She was one of the first young sister missionaries called to serve at the Hill Cumorah Historical Sites. While there she compiled the early church history study curriculum for the site sisters. As a student, she spent two years working in the Church History Department at BYU. Rinda has taught early morning and release time seminary in Sacramento, Provo, Spanish Fork, Springville, Chandler and Mesa. She also had the privilege to teach a Church History course at ASU Institute of Religion for a semester. Legacy of Faith Tours has been 20 years in the making; during which Rinda has created many church history tour experiences for friends and family; Rinda also did an apprenticeship run with a Las Vegas Church History tour organization that has been running an incredible for 30 years. Rinda is very grateful and excited to help people experience the Church historical sites that have meant so much to her.

FAQs About Our Church Historic Tours

Visiting temples is a priority as we plan church history tours. Both our Summer Church History Tour and Fall Church History Tour have scheduled times to do work in the Palmyra Temple and in the Nauvoo Temple. The Fall Tour also includes a session at the Winter Quarters Temple and opportunity to work in the Kansas City Temple. In all of our Church History Tours, we will visit many temple sites that are not active but have important historical significance including the Kirtland Temple, and the Independence and Far West temple sites. The American History Tour has a scheduled session at the Washington DC Temple, and we may visit temple grounds in Philadelphia and Boston. Please feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions about  temple visits.

Yes, we have a few requirements for people who participate in our church historical tours. There is a substantial amount of walking and stair climbing involved on our journey, along with many slopes, uphill and downhill walking, and frequent climbing in and out of vehicles. We need our participants to be able to independently walk the distance of a half mile over uneven ground, without a walker or other human assistance.
No, you do not! We believe that members of the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (LDS church) will likely benefit more than members of other denominations as they learn the background and journey of the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (LDS church). However, anyone can have a positive personal and spiritual experience on our tours, and we welcome all interested participants regardless of their church background or denomination affiliation.
Visiting the Temple is a priority for our group as we lead church history tours. Both our Summer Church History Tour and Fall Church History Tour feature a visit to the Palmyra Temple, and the Fall Tour includes a second temple visit, to Kirtland Temple. The American History Tour has a scheduled session at the Washington DC Temple, and we may visit temple grounds in Philadelphia and Boston. Please feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions about destinations or travel.

Because our tours require quite a bit of logistical preparation on our end, we have a strict cancellation policy. The deposit and registration fees are due when the reservation is made, and final payments are due several months before the trip. After the final payment is made, you have a few more weeks before it becomes non-refundable. At that point, if you must cancel your trip, you will not receive back any payments you have made.

We recommend making the extra investment in trip insurance. There are many things that can interfere with any planned trips in this day and age, and while we do everything we can to ensure a timely trip and the experience you have hoped for, some things are out of our control. That is why we encourage participants to purchase individual travel insurance.
